Therabath - Professional Paraffin Bath | Pain Relief & Skin Hydration

Made in the United States since 1962, Therabath is a Minnesota-based company offering kerosene heat therapy for the hands, feet, face and body.

Therabath's parent company, WR Medical Electronic Co. was founded by 2 engineers (last names Whitson and Roth constituting "WR").

Both bought a company called Theratron in 1962. Theratron manufactured many physical medicine products, including what was later called Therabath. They also made kerosene wax, at the time, called Theraffin.

Today, WR Medical Electronics Co. consists of their neurology division primarily focused on autonomic function testing equipment and software and the Therabath division, both housed in the same facility. WR Medical has always believed that a large part of their success has come from manufacturing their own products, in their own factory in Maplewood, MN, USA. They combine that with incredible customer service and people who truly care about improving the quality of life through the use of their medical devices.

What sets Therabath apart from other thermotherapy products is that it is the only kerosene bath made in the United States that can also be sold in Canada and Europe, because it meets all the strict quality and safety requirements!

By manufacturing Therabath units in their FDA-approved manufacturing facility, the company has the dynamic opportunity to make necessary manufacturing changes very quickly. It also makes it easier to respond to customer shipping requests since employees are not limited to waiting for product to arrive on containers from overseas.

Why choose the Therabath paraffin wax bath?

  • Natural and effective relief for arthritis pain and joint stiffness; a Class II medical device recommended by doctors, physical therapists, and arthritis specialists since 1962.

  • Deep hydration and improved skin elasticity: penetrates dry skin with nourishing oils, increases blood flow, and renews tissue from the inside out for complete healing.

  • 100% American-made, compliant with strict FDA medical standards.

  • 5-year warranty, ensuring reliability and a lasting investment in personal health.

  • Available with hypoallergenic paraffin wax, offered in a variety of scents and colors: residue-free, forming thick, pliable layers that are easy to remove. Soft and flexible, it avoids the mess of brittle, flaky paraffin wax.

  • Easy to use at home, in clinics, or in hospitals: provides long-lasting relief for hands, feet, face, elbows, or any other part of the body.

How does kerosene wax thermotherapy work?

Kerosene wax has a very high heat capacity, which means that it is able to absorb and retain a large amount of heat for a very long time.

The wax molecules are also too large to be absorbed by the skin. When a person immerses the treatment area in the wax (the approximate temperature of the wax is 130 degrees F), the body instantly rushes blood to the area to cool it down forming an instant "shell" on the skin protecting the skin from the heat.

This instant barrier on the skin is what we call the wax "glove". Adding more layers of wax is like adding more insulation. The extra layers of wax do not increase the overall temperature, but the heat retention time is extended.

This instant shell or glove is also the reason why the wax can allow multiple users to dip into the same molten wax bath.
